Chubb Insurance aids in growth of women's sport

January 21, 2010

The Whitecaps Foundation is pleased to announce that Chubb Insurance will support the growth of women’s soccer by giving to the 2010 Whitecaps Women’s Soccer Series.

For the second straight season, Chubb has come forward and provided a generous donation to ensure that young female athletes are given an opportunity to participate in a professional-level soccer event. For the 2010 season, Chubb have donated $2,500 to the Whitecaps Women’s Soccer Series.

The Whitecaps Women’s Soccer Series will see five Whitecaps women’s team matches held in the British Columbia communities of Burnaby, Coquitlam, Langley, Richmond, and Victoria. The aim of the Series is to expose young female athletes to role models in the form of the Whitecaps women's team players, while giving them more of an incentive to get involved in sport. "The impact of our Whitecaps women on young girls and the growth of the game cannot be overstated," said Whitecaps director of professional teams Greg Anderson. "Taking our elite women’s team into the community, as part of the Whitecaps Women’s Soccer Series, will help to grow the game and connect the team with the community and its partners."

Although the 2010 schedule is still to be released, it is hoped that the second annual Whitecaps Women’s Soccer Series will build on the success of last season’s event, which visited three BC communities and garnered an attendance of over 4,400 fans.
